12 Tidbits About Ann Cory

By Ann.Cory on June 8, 2007

Due to a horrible week of allergies that have left me miserable and cranky, I decided to share 12 tidbits about myself rather than leave you with some tirade about weather, plants, or the crazy lives of celebrities.

1)I like all things butterfly related.
2)My hubby and I make wine, and yes it’s drinkable
3)I’m hooked on confetti. I love the stuff. It always cheers me up.
4)My most favorite book in the world is Anne of Green Gables.
5)I have always liked boys. My first boyfriend was George from kindergarten. I wasn’t very nice to him and embarrassed him horribly.
6)I write horror under a different name
7)My guilty pleasure is watching The Pirate Movie, and yes it’s even more cheesy than it was before, which makes me love it more. Grease comes in second.
8)I was the Super Smile Winner on the Ramblin’ Rod Show when I was little. Only some of you will know what I’m talking about.
9)I’d wear sandals year round if I could – I can’t stand to have my toes covered up
10)I played the organ for 16 years and gave it up for a boy. What was I thinking?
11)I drive by my local Border’s store often and wave to my book. I also go inside about twice a week just to say hi to it. I’m not sure what I’ll do if someone buys it.
12)I am going to suffer terribly from Empty Nest Syndrome when my son gets older and leaves home. I will truly be pathetic.

Sorry you’re having a hard time with allergies, Ann. Your post made me smile. I would never have guess #3. LOL

And when they sell out your books at Borders, I’m sure they’ll order more. :-)

  2. So weird – I was just thinking about Anne of Green Gables the other day. What a great book and movie!

I’m sorrry to hear about your allergies making you feel miserable. I usually get it bad in July.

  3. Oh, I loved The Pirate Movie. Haven’t seen that in oh…what…almost twenty years. I’m going to have to go looking for it now that you reminded me.

    Great big belly laugh!

My daughter and I love the Anne of Green Gables movies. I never get tired of them!

  5. Love your post! :)

Grease is great! One of my top fave movies of all time!

I’d kill to play the organ. It has such a neat, haunted sound to it. And music with organs in it, especially with operatic voices, always give me goosebumps!

And just for the record, I would totally wave and smile at my book if it were in a store too! Don’t worry, they always restock! ha ha

  6. Just a note on #12…when our youngest left home, DH & I were sad for…oh…about half an hour. Then it was great to have the place to ourselves. ggg

Now he’s moving back home for a year…

  7. Hugs on the allergies. It’s so miserable when you feel crappy.

  8. Thanks NJ :) It’s the cottonwood around here – one whiff, even after taking strong allergy medication – and I’m done for.

    Tee hee on #3

I’ve grown attached to my book there. I’ve moved it to the front or top shelf – turned it so the cover faces out – pulled it out a little. We have great fun together ;) lol

  9. Thanks Diane – I do better in the evenings, so I’m a little less grouchy now, lol.

I always found a lot in common with Anne – except for the orphan part. But her imagination and striving to do better, boys, the trouble she always got into – yeah – those are the things I could relate too, lol.

  10. Jennah – I just about died when I heard they finally put The Pirate Movie to DVD! My husband thinks I’m nuts – but it brings back good memories, makes me laugh out loud, and is a fun little escape :)

  11. Carolan – I’m so glad you enjoy them too! I have the movie and love to watch it – Megan Follows was an excellent choice to play Anne.

I’ve been to the place in Canada where they filmed a few scenes of the movie – the part where Anne waits at the train station to be picked up, the room where they filmed her talking at the window in the orphanage, and the schoolhouse.

    :) tossing confetti

  12. Thank you Isabelle :) Isn’t Grease just fun – I love movies that are just plain fun with a side of cheese, lol.

In the beginning my organ teacher only gave me classical stuff to play, but then I started skipping classes and she agreed to let me play some modern stuff (at the time that was Madonna and Duran Duran) and it was a blast. I miss it. I barely remember the chords anymore.

I look forward to my second book to go in there so the other one won’t be so lonely. I keep telling it to be patient, it will have a friend :O) lol

  13. Hi Natasha :) My son is 14, and so far we haven’t had to deal with any teenager issues. However, he starts High School next year. I shudder at the thought!! lol

  14. Thanks for the hugs, Nell – it’s appreciated :) You know, I’ll take a cold over allergies because at least I know I’ll be better in a week or so. My allergies will hang around until September sigh

I think that’s why Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons – I can be outside and not be miserable :)

  15. #10 – Sounds like you traded one organ for another. :-)

#12 – Natasha’s right – you just get used to having the place to yourself, traipsing around half-dressed and finally get the hang of cooking for two. Then they move back in.

    Enjoyed your post.
