4 Tools for Busy People

By Margo.Lukas on January 19, 2008

I’m busy. You’re busy. We are ALL busy!!!! Will it ever get better? Did “simpler times” once exist? Are modern women busier than men?

I’m sure you have opinions about those questions (I sure do), but I’m not going to worry about them at the moment. I have a different priority…

Helping You!

I’m going to share with you three websites and one book. I hope these tools will aid you in being more organized and less stressed in your busy life. I’ve used three for the last few years and they’ve helped me and my family tremendously. The last tool is a new find, but possibly the most beneficial.

1. FlyLady.net

FlyLady.net is a fun way to introduce housekeeping routines into your life. She starts you off by insisting you shine your sink. From that point you take baby steps until your domestic life is organized in what she calls a “Control Journal”. Routines are nothing new, but the way FlyLady coaches you along is fun and unique. Confession Time: I haven’t made it to a finished Control Journal, but the Fly Zones are the first things I mark on my calendar. Plus she saved me from the weekend laundry mountain.

2. Saving Dinner with Dinner Diva, Leanne Ely

I’m not all that fond of cooking. Still I must prepare two meals a day most days of the year. The hardest part for me was choosing WHAT to cook and making sure key ingredients were available. Enter Leann and her menu-mailers. Her site offeres weekly menus, freezer-meal menus, and crock pot menus. You get the menus, recipes and grocery list. A total time saver and a great gift.

3. Organizing from the Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern

This is the book that started me on my first organizational quest. Her kindergarten model is priceless and I try to use it whenever I can. I pick up this book when I need to change items in our home or activities in our life.

4. A Checklist for Saying NO

Time is as precious as clear counter space. Time gets cluttered up and scattered about, too. I’ve printed off this list and taped it inside the cupboard door above my phone. I gladly volunteer when I can, but there is a point where enough is enough. Know what I’m talking about?

Well, that’s it. Hope you find these useful.
