Live from RT, sort of

By admin on April 18, 2008

Whew, y’all, seriously a bit fat, WHEW. I always forget how amazing, busy, and exhausting RT is. It’s Friday and I’m still alive, which is a good thing. Let me give you my update from Pittsburgh.

Wednesday was a bit of a weird day – did anyone mention the hotel? Um, yeah, still under renovation and a bit of a mess. I had to wait eight hours for my room, which I finally got and it’s nice. The elevators, however, keep getting stuck (thus, I started using the stairs quite a bit) and the hallways look, well, let’s just say not very Hilton-like.

Maya Banks has her room number taped to the door. Seriously. She’s going to save it and bring it home with her. LOL.

I heard there was an incident with a strapless dress Wednesday night, but alas I missed it. People were dressed to the nines in Hollywood glam.

Thursday was a good day. Lots of workshops, Club RT, meeting people and schmoozing. I was excited to see so many familiar faces and to say hello to people who said “I love Samhain books.” Or, “When’s the next one coming out?”

Awesooooooooooome!

I met and re-met lots of Samhain authors including Tilly Greene, SJ Willing (love that British accent!), Brenda Williamson, Ashleigh Raine, D. Renee Bagby, Melissa Lopez, and Bianca D’Arc amongst others. I’ve been at Club RT quite a bit, and at one point, Marty Mathews and THE Crissy Brashear sat with me. ;)

The Faery Ball was a fabulous display of amazing costumes. I am amazed how creative people are. I could never pull anything off like that – although one contestant wore bra and panties with boots and wings. Seriously, y’all, her panties. People do like to strut their stuff.

Our very own D. Renee Bagby was in the top 10 finalists for the costume competition! She looked absolutely gorgeous and deserved to be up there on stage.

I’m exhausted but having a ball. Hard to believe there’s two more days left!!
