Dance of Seduction will be released in PRINT from Samhain this month, so I figured I’d hold a little contest on the blog today, and tell you a bit about why I chose the profession I did for my heroine.
The story features Ellie Dawson, a ballerina who leaves town after a car accident that ended her dance career. Only instead of peace of mind and time to heal her wounds, she’s forced to deal with our hero, Luke Russell, who Ellie’s older brother has sent to track her down. Needless to say, the sparks between these two are hot, and Ellie launches a game of seduction in order to get Luke to leave her alone, which, of course, he doesn’t.
So, Ellie’s job. A ballerina. It’s something a lot of little girls dream of being, myself included. When I was young, I wanted to be a dancer, and I even took ballet lessons for several years. Then I quit. I don’t really remember why I stopped the lessons and sometimes I wonder what would have been if I’d continued. I was pretty good (if I say so myself), so could there have been a chance I’d be a prima ballerina by now? Maybe. Maybe not. But it’s something I’ve always wondered about, which is why I chose dancing for my heroine’s career. Living vicariously through her, and all that.
Now the contest. I want to hear about your childhood aspirations. What did you want to be when you grew up? Did that dream come true, or are you now working at the last job you’d ever expected? One commenter will get a free print copy of Dance of Seduction, so come on, spill!

Hey Elle congrats on the upcoming print release! Don’t enter me in the contest but I’m doing what I always dreamed of – writing! Yay!
Hi Elle, I think I wanted to be a scientist when I was young. It was because of all the great role models/science teachers I had in school. But I also loved to read – and that’s the field I ended up in. Now I am scared of science, and worry that I won’t be much help to my kid when she needs homework help in these subjects. But I hope it will all work out and I will re-discover what drew me to those topics too.
