So lately the “big” news (no pun intended there) is Jessica Simpson’s weight. She was on every dang magazine cover at the Target check-out lines. There must have been two dozen articles too. And what do they talk about? Her weight and her butt.

For pity’s sake, so she doesn’t want to be a size 4, 110-pound skeleton. OMG, she’s a 10/12. Stop the presses and everyone focus on the fact she’s a normal woman.
Even other celebs are getting behind her. Jennifer Love-Hewitt appears in Us talking about the ridiculousness of it, not to mention the sheer craziness of the skinny actresses nowadays. Have you seen Lindsey Lohan? She looks emaciated.
So here’s Jessica trying something new in the country music scene, which by the way is perfectly wonderful. Why not? Yet people focus on her weight. It makes me annoyed and disappointed. My DH will tell me it’s what he expects, he’s a cynic and a half, but I don’t want to expect that from the public.
All I can say is, Jessica is absolutely beautiful no matter what size she is. You go, girl!

Personally I think she looks better now with a few curves. As a mother with daughters this kind of thing really burns me up. No one ever talks about a guy in such a negative way if he’s put on weight. James Spader comes to mind — he put on quite a bit over the years on ‘Boston Legal’ but the weight gain seemed to be a non issue (neither should it be, he’s an interesting actor and that’s what counts). If a female star did that there would be an outcry, as if she was a child abuser or something. Grrr…
Exactly! I have two teenage boys and wonder what this judgmental attitude toward curvy women is doing for their view on women. It’s criminal!
