THE PASSION-MINDED PROFESSOR is my take on the Absent-minded Professor meets Love Potion #9. There’s also a big dose of opposites attract mixed in. I love making my hero and heroine opposites because there’s so much conflict built right in. Roxy is a divorced diner waitress/full-time college student struggling to make ends meet. Daniel is a successful college chemistry professor, who likes to perform experiments on the side. Roxy is sassy and outgoing. Daniel is a quiet loner. Throw these two together and watch what happens when they accidentally become involved in an experiment in passion.

Here’s an excerpt to tempt you:

She’d played right into his hands. Daniel couldn’t believe it. Not that he needed help finding a woman. He could find one if he wanted to. Really. He was simply too busy with his work to play the dating game.

But now that the experiment had started, he had to continue his contact with Roxy. For better or worse, she was his research subject. The fact that she felt an immediate attraction to him as well was exciting news. It meant he was on the right track with his formula.

Their food came then and Daniel watched with interest as Roxy interacted with their waitress. She made eye contact and talked to her about the weather and asked if her feet were sore. They shared opinions about the best shoes for being on their feet for hours on end, and the waitress left their table with a wider smile on her face.

“Amazing,” Daniel said.

Roxy looked up from her plate, ketchup bottle in her hand. “What?”

“I just realized I don’t normally pay much attention to waiters and waitresses. You, however, treated her like a good friend.”

“Waitresses are people too, you know,” she said, waving the ketchup bottle at him. “We work hard. We have good days and bad days and deserve as much respect as anyone else.”

“You’re absolutely right. I will never look at waitresses the same again.” Or look at Roxy the same way either.

He watched her bite into her hamburger with gusto. He had the feeling she would do everything with enthusiasm. Eating. Waitressing. Schoolwork. Kissing. Sex.

He probably should have gone directly home and taken a shower. He still had the elixir on his skin.

As it was, he couldn’t look at Roxy without noticing the shimmer in her blonde hair, or the sparkle in her green eyes. The ribbed sweater she wore hugged her beautiful curves in ways that made his palms itch. She licked a little bit of ketchup off her lips with her tongue and his mouth went dry.
He had to get his mind off lips and tongues and sex. “So, Roxy, are you a grad student here?”

She shook her head. “No, I’m a lowly freshman.”

“Really? You wanted to work for a few years before going back to school?”

“Something like that.” She glanced out the window. “It’s a long story I really don’t want to get into tonight.”

“Okay,” he replied. “What’s your major?”

“Communications.” She placed the half-eaten burger down on her plate and began to gesture with her hands. “I’m going to be a DJ. I mean, getting paid for talking and playing music? How cool is that?” She grinned. “I’m learning there’s a lot more to it than that, but I know it’s something I would really enjoy doing.”

Looking at Roxy, Daniel knew what he’d enjoy doing. First he’d plunge his hands into her silky hair. Then he’d taste her slick lips. Cup her full breasts in his hands and gently squeeze them.
Daniel pulled out the folded napkin he’d shoved into his pocket. “Could I borrow your pen again?”

“Uh, sure.”

Uncharacteristic thoughts again. If he didn’t know better, Daniel would say he was feeling passionate toward Roxy Morgan. His formula had been designed to simply heighten attraction, to give the body’s natural pheromones a little boost. He hadn’t expected powerful sexual desire to be such a strong side effect. It appeared his potion was performing much better than he expected.

I’m thrilled The Passion-Minded Professor is now available in print as well as download. I hope you’ll enjoy Roxy and Daniel’s story, whether you download it to your e-book readers or buy a print copy to hold in your hands.
