All About Heidi Moore
Born in the middle of nowhere in Africa and currently living in the middle of nowhere in the Middle East, Heidi likes to think of herself as a citizen of the world. She is the mum of three amazing girls who take turns making her want to hug them, brag about them and sometimes hide in the loo from them.
After getting her BA in English language and literature and her teaching diploma, she spent 5 years as a high school English teacher and freelance writer working on literature-based course books. Heidi joined Samhain Publishing in the summer of 2007 as an acquisitions and content editor and since then has enjoyed working with a fantastic group of talented authors writing in multiple genres.
She frequently rambles, sometimes rants and genuinely tries to make sense (although it might not always show). She also hates talking about herself in 3rd person.

A few weeks ago, I was at a friend’s house and she brought out the book her sister-in-law wrote and had published by a very respectable New York publishing house. Since my friend knows what I do, she has been talking to me about this book and her sister-in-law’s experience for well over a year.
This time, however, my friend was not at all enthusiastic when she actually set the book in my hands. Apparently, her sister-in-law was not enjoying all the aspects of having a book out—was even regretting having gone through it all.
She worked for ten long years researching and writing the book. Had it contracted by a New York house. Went through edits and a release and the high of seeing her name in print on a cover on bookshelves everywhere. Quite an awesome accomplishment. But then the reviews started coming in.
Don’t get me wrong, the book got some really good reviews. The Washington Post called the author courageous and bold and the story touching. Library Journal called the book thoroughly entertaining and well-written. And that’s just two examples of what I would consider a successful release. Read more…

Summer comes early in my little part of the Holy land. We’ve already had temperatures up in the nineties and spent the weekend swimming at the Sachne – the gorgeous hot springs a few miles down the road that National Geographic voted as one of the top ten most beautiful places in the world (we’re [...]

Anyone who knows me, even a little, knows I can spend a fair amount of time with my foot in my mouth I’ve thrown name (South African slang for made a fool of my myself) in quite a few different countries and more than a few languages. In a note I wrote to the parents [...]

I am the first to admit I am a packrat, a hoarder in the making. I like to keep stuff in case I end up needing it one day. Drives Mr. Mooreish crazy since he was raised in a house that had no knickknacks or junk or empty jam jars. We’ve moved houses 11 times [...]

With everyone on their way home or already home from RT, I thought I'd chat a bit about conferences from a slightly different point of view. From the point of view of someone who stays home. This business we're in is kind of funny in that a lot of the time the isolation can be [...]
