It makes me chuckle to think about all the romantic short stories I wrote in my rather too literary creative writing classes in college. If only one of my professors had steered me toward popular fiction! On the other hand, if I had discovered my calling back then, I wouldn’t have gone to culinary school, I wouldn’t have met my husband, we wouldn’t have had three children and I wouldn’t have turned to erotic romance to get my mojo back during all this hair-raising kid raising.

Inspirational Music (Giveaway!)

Nope, not hymns! I’m talking about songs that get me in the mood to do my thing. Back in the day, it would be the music my girlfriends and I listened to when we were getting ready to go out. Now it’s the music I listen to when I’m getting ready to write, but hey, everything has a season. For me, everything also has a song.

I listened to “Come On Get Higher” by Matt Nathanson over and over again while I was writing Bottoms Up, the first story in my Come Again series. Seriously. Sexy. A man so into a woman it’s a religious experience? Hot. It was perfect for the dynamic I was trying to create between Destiny and Johnny while they got their BDSM groove on.

For SoloPlay, the song was Tik Tok by Ke$ha. Playful, fun, and adventurous. A crazy party song for a woman on a sexual journey, riding a rainbow of sex toys. I mean, if you are going to go for it, you might as well channel a can’t lose attitude, right?
