When writing p aranormal romance there is automatically an extra layer of conflict because of the otherness. Vampires come with blood issues. Shape-shifters have packs (or lack of in Brightwater Blood). Even a simple genie in a bottle story has problems when he has to go back in the bottle (Boyfriend in a Bottle).
In Ruby’s Ghost the hero is a ghost…and so is his ex and she is pissed off at dying. I had to figure out how a romance was going to work between a very much alive young woman and a not-quite dead guy.
