Vivian's News & Fun Facts

Vivian loves to put easter eggs into her stories, especially the paranormal series. All the Granite Lake Wolves and Takhini Wolves book titles contain at least two story related puns.

One of Viv's favourite movies is The Princess Bride.

Viv doesn't listen to music while writing, because the one time she tried, the lyrics of the song mysteriously ended up on the page in the middle of the story.

All About Vivian Arend

Vivian Arend in one word: Adventurous. In a sentence: Willing to try just about anything once. That wide-eyed attitude has taken her around North America, through parts of Europe, and into Central and South America, often with no running water.

Her optimistic outlook also meant that when challenged to write a book, she gave it a shot, and discovered creating worlds to play in was nearly as addictive as traveling the real one. Now a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of both contemporary and paranormal stories, Vivian continues to explore, write and otherwise keep herself well entertained.

Keeping it straight

When I started writing it was one rush of excitement after the other. A new idea, and BOOM, it was on the page. Characters talking about it, action developing. ALl the way from the first word on the page to THE END I simply rolled with it.

Book 2 came a little slower. Not because the ideas weren’t there, but because I had to keep stopping to check references to the first book. What colour hair did I say the hero had in book one? Back then he’d been a minor side character. I’d described him once then *poof* moved on. After becoming frustrated by having to slow down to dig up information, I took to inserting XXX every time I didn’t know a fact. Whether it was a character’s eye colour or the name of the restaurant I wanted to mention, XXX and on the the next point. Once the book was done I would go through, search for XXX and look it all up then. Read more…

As a writer I’m constantly on the lookout for new ideas and inspiration. I’m also desperately trying to find a way to stick 36 hours into each day to have the time to deal with all the ideas and inspiration that looking around me brings. It truly is a balancing act, whether you’re a writer [...]

STORM SWEPT – paranormal passion in print

By On Apr 29 2012, 9:30 am

The Pacific Passion series started because I wanted to try two things– First was writing short, hot works that continued the adventure for the same hero/heroine in more than one story. Stormchild, Stormy Seduction and Silent Storm were the result. I loved the challenge of making complete, yet individual stories with lots of passion. Making the next [...]
