Laurie M. Rauch, Executive Editor

Laurie M. Rauch is the new Executive Editor at Samhain Publishing, Ltd. She joined Samhain as an editor in 2006, where she’s found that stories about people falling in love are a lot more fun than profit reports and server installation manuals. She loves stories that make her laugh or make her cry, but most of all make her sigh at the end and know that two people who were meant to be have found their happily ever after.

Late one night, as she was standing on a twelve-foot ladder and holding onto a ten-thousand-dollar light, Laurie realized that a BFA in theatre was not her life’s path. Never one to quit, she finished her degree. But, knowing that her heart and soul was in the written word, and with the help of a book about careers for bookworms, she then completed a diploma in Book and Magazine Publishing.

Laurie is passionate about good, and grammatically correct, writing. In fact, she’s known for her motto: Fighting bad grammar one misplaced modifier at a time.

As the executive editor, Laurie’s main focus is on publication standards, house style and developing and motivating the editing staff. She’s looking forward to working with Samhain’s many talented authors and editors.

A pop-culture junkie, Internet addict and self-proclaimed geek, Laurie lives in Canada with her guy and their wiener dog, Oscar.

Lindsey Faber, Managing Editor

A lifetime love of reading and a master’s in literature taught Lindsey Faber that she enjoys nothing more than reading great books—and then analyzing the heck out of them. Now she puts these skills to use as Managing Editor for Samhain Publishing, helping talented authors achieve their vision and make their books even better. She’s thrilled to be a part of Samhain, where she’s able to combine her love of great stories with her passion for technology.

Lindsey resides in Cincinnati, but her laptop and a love of travel keep her on the go: to quiet corners of coffeehouses, industry conferences and—when she really needs to get away—Paris, France.

Sasha Knight, Senior Editor

Sasha Knight loves words. Her parents swear she came out of the womb speaking and took up reading soon after, so it should come as no surprise that she grew up to become an editor, allowing her to spend her days playing with words.

In 2005, Sasha joined Samhain Publishing, Ltd. as a full-time editor. In 2009, she added to her duties when she took on the position of managing editor for Linden Bay Romance, a recent acquisition of Samhain Publishing. In addition to her administrative duties, Sasha maintains a full-time editing schedule and edits more than 30 authors…and she’s always looking for more.

When she’s not editing, reading submissions or wading through thousands of emails, Sasha relaxes by watching TV. She’s an avid fan of Joss Whedon and thinks that Firefly was one of the best TV shows ever. Sasha loves to travel with her family with an e-reader full of books always at her side.

Linda Ingmanson, Editor

I’m a huge fan of science fiction, fantasy and, of course, romance. Dark heroes, smart but sensitive heroines and action-packed plots are by far my favorites. A sense of humor never hurts, either.

I’ve been with Samhain for several years, and I’m excited to be a part of such a great company. In addition to the fun of working with authors and developing positive and long-lasting relationships, I finally get to put my English degree to use!

I’m always on the prowl for Red Hot romances (happy to read m/m, menage or BDSM as well as traditional), space operas (think Star Wars or Firefly/Serenity), epic fantasy or urban fantasy. I also have a soft spot for medieval and regency historicals.

English teacher by day, editor by night, I live with my husband, kids and many pets in a small New England town.

Anne Scott, Editor

Anne Scott was not a particularly early reader, but she was enthusiastic. After discovering Enid Blyton, she went on to love such series as Anne of Green Gables, Little Women and The Black Stallion, not necessarily in that order. In her teens and twenties she read a lot of CanLit, classics and mainstream lit, until she rediscovered genre—science fiction, fantasy and romance—and didn’t look back. Though she still reads the occasional mainstream novel.

A number of years ago, Anne realized that not only did she love reading, she also loved getting into the nitty gritty of editing. In 2006, Samhain Publishing hired her on and she has been loving her job ever since.

When Anne isn’t editing, she tries to get away from her computer and out of doors: skiing, biking, hiking and swimming. She lives in southern Ontario and loves the change of seasons.

Some of her favorite novelists include Patricia Briggs, Laura Kinsale and Megan Whelan Turner. She has edited such authors as Cathryn Fox, Mary Wine, Emily Veinglory, Linda Winfree and Moira Rogers.

Jennifer Miller, Editor

After growing up in Hawaii and various locations in the South Pacific, Jennifer Miller moved to California, where she earned her bachelors and masters degrees. After working in jobs ranging from investment sales to teaching to acting on stage, Jennifer finally settled into working with books—romantic fiction in particular. She has been with Samhain since early 2007 and has loved every second of it. Currently, she lives in Southern California with her husband, three children, two fish, hamster, cat, and leopard gecko.

Jennifer enjoys contemporary, historical, and paranormal romances with likeable, interesting characters, lots of action, and loads of sexual tension. She especially loves books that make her sigh with pleasure at the end and believe in happily ever afters.

Heidi Moore, Editor

After getting her BA in English language and literature and her teaching diploma, Heidi Moore spent 5 years as a high school English teacher and freelance writer working on literature-based course books. With an eclectic and voracious appetite for books that didn’t match either her budget or the amount of shelf space left in her house, Heidi found epublishing to be the solution to many of the issues curtailing her “habit”.

Heidi joined Samhain publishing in the summer of 2007 and since then has enjoyed working with a fantastic group of talented authors who include Shiloh Walker, Jenna Bayley-Burke, Liz Craven, Ann Cory, NJ Walters, Evangeline Anderson and Ember Case. Heidi is always on the lookout for a book that grabs her attention—whether it be with a dark and angsty tone, a unique sense of humor, red-hot sex scenes or simply a book that has that special “something” to it.

Bethany Morgan, Editor

Bethany Morgan began her passion and love of words at the early age of two and it hasn’t stopped since. She loves almost any genre—vampires and science fiction/fantasy being her favorite, but all fiction books must have a HEA or why bother reading them? When she discovered editing meant reading more books to ensure accuracy, she knew this was the perfect job.

Her book collection numbers over 6,000 tomes. In addition to romances, her books range from post-apocalyptic and pre-1950s science fiction to non-fiction genres from apocalypse theories, plagues (sense a pattern?), mythology and anything on history.

When eBooks became available, her husband foolishly thought this meant less shelf space would be needed for actual books and began planning his “man room” (silly Rabbit!). He is completely confounded by the need to have the same book in both electronic and paper form, but is starting to understand after multiple discussions. Bethany and her husband currently live on the beautiful shores of Narragansett Bay with three cats who rule the roost. Having no children, both Bethany and her husband are happily spending what would have been their college funds on books, camera equipment and vacations.

Tera Kleinfelter, Editor

As a lifelong resident of Indiana, Tera Kleinfelter learned to immerse herself in books at a young age. Feeling no desire for cows, corn or soybeans, she quickly turned her passion into a profession. She enjoys editing and considers it her dream job, her favorite genres being paranormal (specifically vampires), GLBT (especially m/m), contemporary romance and fantasy.

Tera would especially like to see manuscripts with a Harry Potter feel, only for adults.

Tera lives with her husband and two cats, which are their practice to see if they can handle real children. In her spare time (oh come on, who is she kidding here. Spare time?), she enjoys reading books for pleasure instead of for work, cars, spending time with friends and family, buying high heels and searching for the perfect lip gloss.
