Writing Series

By On Dec 13 2012, 9:00 am

Endings are hard. It means the fun stuff is over and we leave the world of Story. If we are writers, it means the editing begins. As a reader, it means the spell is ended and we are bereft.

For me as an author, the natural answer is to create series to play in, where I can romp in the world I’ve made and see where threads take me. I don’t remember the first series I ever read, but I know the first prolific author I found was Phyllis Whitney, one of my superheroes of writing. She lived to a ripe old age, too, which inspires me on its own. She wrote many kinds of stories but I loved best the mysteries she wrote for a young adult audience. I like to write with a collaborator because it’s fun.  Sharing a world together makes it more real.  Rachel and I talk daily by phone, email, and [...]
