Do you remember the popular phrase “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful”? Yes? Good. But let me change it up a bit.

Don’t hate me because I’m finished.

I know you’re wondering what I’m talking about. Have I finished my latest book? I have, but that’s not what I’m talking about. Besides, there’s always another book waiting right behind the last one. Have I finished cleaning my house for another week? Right again, but you’re still wrong, too.

I’m talking about the fact that I’ve completed all my holiday shopping. I know. Some of you are amazed, some of you are happy for me (thank you!), and still more of you are trying to hide your envy. Whichever group you fit into, don’t despair. It’s not too late for you to tie up the gift search early, too.

I learned a long time ago that the best way to enjoy the holiday season is to get the presents purchased, wrapped, and shipped before the first weekend in December. Do I miss out on sales by shopping early? Perhaps. But I also miss out on a lot of crowds and last minute scrambles for the elusive perfect gift. Do I miss running through the mall and checking out the decorations? Not really. Now I can meander through the mall at my leisure, take in the joyous sights and sounds, and return home to a tree with presents already under its lighted branches.

So take it from me. Shop early, shop online, do whatever you have to do to get the presents bought before the rush of the season. After all, shouldn’t we enjoy the real meaning behind the celebration instead of worrying about finding a cozy new robe for Grandma? Isn’t it more fun to go to the holiday parties and events without a list running through your head? (By the way, eBooks make great gifts and require no wrapping!)

Love Vampires? How about two?

Well, not really two. Vampires' Consort is about a vampire, his thrall and the woman who's entangled with them both. Continuing my Magical Menages series, which kicked off last year with Shifters' Captive, I decided to explore the dynamics of another three-way relationship.

Recent college graduate, Akila Massri is between jobs. Faced with student loans and rent she can scarcely pay, she's afraid she'll have to move back in with her parents when a stranger's proposition offers a possible solution. A handsome man named Jacob Baum approaches her in the supermarket and hands her an invitation from his employer, reclusive philanthropist, Valarian Kaspan. He will pay Akila to visit him at his island retreat, but is extremely vague about what he wants or how he's chosen her for this honor. Common sense tells her to blow off this outrageous porn flick scenario, but curiosity and an intangible sense of destiny propel her to the island.

On the flight from the mainland, Akila is accompanied by Jacob, a quiet, surprisingly reassuring presence. As she questions him about his boss, she gets a vibe that his feelings about him are conflicted. She's intrigued by the mysterious Jacob but completely blown away by Valarian's dynamic aura when she meets the powerful man. She's even more overwhelmed when he reveals what he is and what he wishes her to do.

Caught up in a swirling morass of sex and save-the-world stakes, Akila is in over her head and dog paddling to keep afloat. Reality is skewed as she wraps her mind around the fact that vampires exist and her future may be foreordained. She learns things about her family history and a prophecy that taps her as a force to be reckoned with. And then there's her bone melting, undeniable attraction to the two very different men and the very big decision she has to make.

But lust and budding romance take a back seat when the baddies kidnap Akila for their own agenda and her heroes have to rescue her.

With plenty of angsty back story for the two heroes in addition to sizzling sex and explosive action, Vampires' Consort is a wild, fantasy romp that I hope readers will enjoy.

How is Hawaii like a new book?

Later this spring, my husband and I fly off to Hawaii for ten days and nights. We have the house-sitter lined up, the plane tickets bought, and the condo on Kona Coast reserved.

Last year we visited Maui, for the third time in many years. Love that island, but this year I want to see the molten lava from Kilauea actually flowing down the mountain and into the sea. Such power and beauty, construction and destruction combined. I want to wander new beaches, see new sights.<br

I'm looking forward to being in the water, too. We plan to paddle-board out to the Captain Cook memorial. Supposed to be fabulous viewing of fish and turtles. We'll snorkel every day, gliding effortlessly through the warm water with our fins and masks, peeping into the world of the reefs.

We’ll eat pulled pork, sushi and pineapple. Go through more Mai Tai’s than I care to tell my doctor, or my mother. Buy some silly tee-shirts, and walk miles on the beach. Maybe even watch whales and dolphins play off shore. See a show or two. Try not to sunburn in the deceptively soft, balmy air.

Anyway, even though we’ll be on a new island, we know we’re guaranteed the Hawaiian experience.

I’m looking forward to Hawaii the way I look forward to a new book by my favorite authors. From a cold, rainy Pacific Northwest winter, they transport me to worlds and seasons apart. Wherever they take me, I don’t mind, because I know they’ll give me what I came for – a guaranteed experience of passion and romance. Whether the story is suspense, historical or paranormal, the heroine will find her true love.

I’m sure every single visitor values different experiences in Hawaii, and I know readers are the same. But, I hope that when you read my books, no matter why you pick them up, you’ll find in each one a guaranteed experience of adventure and red hot romance.
