My writing is usually inspired by my dreams. I’ll wake up with an idea for a character or plot twist, and frantically write it down before it vanishes. But in the case of my new release, Poison in the Blood, I was inspired by a poem. “Goblin Market” by Christina Rossetti is a cautionary tale about the perils of dealing with goblin men.

Would talk about the haunted glen,
The wicked quaint fruit-merchant men,
Their fruits like honey to the throat
But poison in the blood;
