As the days turn faster and faster towards the end of the year, I look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas, but not simply for the joys of food and family. My secret love during these two particularly holidays is that every year I indulge in a ritual of revisiting some of my favorite classic romance novels.
They are the ones tucked away on the highest shelf in my room, their covers faded and spines worn. The pages are yellowed from decades of exposure to the sun. These treasured few books are the ones I inherited from my mother who in turn inherited them from her mother. Each year, I take them down, set aside my current work projects and allow these books to take me back in time. I become a younger version of myself, exploring the stories that led me to being an author.
