Sarah Standish is waiting (im)patiently for her 21st birthday. Then she’ll be able to come out of hiding and go looking for her father. Plans, of course, have a way of not working out the way you want. When Max is brought to the inn where she is living under an assumed name, and she mistakes him for the man she almost married, life suddenly takes a strange turn.
Max is back in England to do two things – see his ailing father and clear his name for a murder he did not commit. While Sarah is initially an impediment, he eventually discovers that their pasts are intertwined even though they have never met before.
